Here Are Some Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of preaching will I hear?
A: Preaching is the center of the worship service. We believe that expository verse by verse preaching is the most effective method of teaching and preaching the Word of God.
Q: Would you consider Southside Baptist Church a traditional or contemporary Church?
A: Worship at Southside is what you would consider today as blended. That is we sing a nice mixture or hymns, choruses and contemporary worship songs. Barbara Miller does a wonderful job of leading us in worship and is always creative and thoughtful in the song choices she makes. We also make full use of video and other multimedia options.
Q: What is the appropriate dress on Sunday Morning?
A: You can wear whatever you are comfortable in as long as it is modest. We're not real formal, and other than Sunday Morning, you will usually see our Pastor wearing some nice jeans and a shirt. So...just come as you are--that's what we do!
Q: What time does the Sunday Morning Worship Service start?
A: We start our Sunday AM service at 10:50 a.m.
Q: What type of translation(s) do you use?
A: Our pastor uses the NASB (New American Standard Version). However, there is a wide variety of translation across our membership (KJV, ESV, NIV, Holman...). We even have wireless capability so you are able to connect and use your Bible translation apps on your IPads, phones and other wireless devices.
Q: How can I find out more about Southside?
A: Our DISCOVERY class will help you learn about our beliefs, history, mission and vision for the future. DISCOVERY is taught by the Pastor on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. In this casual setting, you’ll meet the Pastor and other church members and discover more about Southside and go deep into God's Word. The class cycles all year, so you can jump in at anytime and won't be left behind. Its a fun and informative investment of your time.
Q: What's the best way for me to get connected to Southside?
A: At Southside there is something for everyone. One of the best ways to make connections, grow relationships, and be challenged in God’s Word is through Bible Study through our many ministries. Check out our times and we are sure you will find something that will pique your interest.
Q: What about my children?
A: We offer Bible Fellowships for infants through grade 6 in a secure facility staffed by caring professionals. All of our childcare workers receive a background check before working with us.
